Literature

AA,

Our class is beginning a language unit called Fables. In this unit, students explore the characteristics of fables and the skill of retelling, which helps them to better understand what they have read. The lesson or "moral" that each of these fables teaches inspire students to think about themselves and others.

We are learning that story elements/Literary elements are the pieces or parts that make the story and that every piece is important to complete the story.

Daily 5

AA,

The Daily 5 is a literacy structure that teaches independence and gives children the skills needed to create a lifetime love of reading and writing. It consists of five tasks that are introduced individually. When introduced to each task, the children discuss what it looks like, sounds like, and feels like to engage in the task independently. Then, the children work on building their stamina until they are successful at being independent while doing that task.

These are the five tasks:
Read to Self
Work on Writing
Read to Someone
Listen to Reading
Work Wok

We Launched the two components of The Daily 5 in our classroom "Read to Self" and Work on Writing".
