MS-Read-a-thon 2014
Dear Parents,
Assalamu Alaikum
Abraar School has been participating in the MS-Read-A-Thon for the past eight years. We feel that this is an important cause because so many people are afflicted by this debilitating disease, and by working together, we can make a difference, inshaAllah.
On Monday, January 27, 2014 at 9:00 we will have a MS-Read-A-Thon assembly in the gym, and at the same time, it is a kick-off for the read-a-thon.
For more information, please visit the MS Society of Canada
Jazakum Allahu Khairan for your support.
Have a great day, inshaAllah.

Dear Parents,
Assalamu Alaikum
During the classroom library visit, we concluded the bibliography section. The students put all thebibliography resources together (book, print encyclopedia, and website). They placed them in alphabeticalorder and wrote them down on a separate sheet of paper.
Please help your child get into the habit citing their sources whenever they have a research report to do. By doing this, they are familiarizing themselves with what bibliographies are and the importance of citingtheir sources.

January 2014
as salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,
in shaa Allah you all had a blessed break with your children.
3B is settling back into their routines and are excited to learn lots of new things.
In Math we have been working on metric unit conversions. I am also sending home a multiplication review booklet to keep our multiplication work fresh in shaa Allah [pg. 1-19 to be completed by February 6th, 2014].
In Language we have been
working on news articles.
In Social Studies we will soon start our Early Canadian Settlers unit.
In Science we will soon be doing a bit more work with structures.
Regards,
Tr. Mohammad
NOTE:
Below, I have also attached a sample sheet to help with bibliographies as it has been requested by a few parents.

French Project Deadline
Assalamu Alaikum Dear Parents,
I would like to inform that grade 4 students have a small project on My family. The due date is Monday, January 13, 2014
I am attaching the details of the project.
Students were given the vocabulary in class and the project's outlines were explained in detail.
Just a few reminders that:
- this is the student work (if any help is needed, they can ask me any time) not parents's work.
- students are required to write directly in French even if the sentences are not perfect or contain some English vocabulary
- students are required to write their own sentences that they understand.
- students can not copy French sentences from any website. This is called plagiarism. However they can use the sentences we did in class as they are from the students.
- students are not allowed to write in English and use Google translator (it will show) but they can use the on-line dictionary to translate some words.
Jazakum Allah kheiran for your cooperation and support,
